Burmese lacquerware offering vessel, known as hsun ok or soon-oke, cinnabar, 67cm high.

This beautiful lacquerware vessel made in bamboo and lacquer is constructed in 2 main parts, opening to reveal a cinnabar coloured compartment.

Made using entirely traditional construction methods. The beautiful shape resembles a pagoda.

Fabulous proportions and intricate detailed decoration on the lacquerware. The central section depicts an elephant and vegetative pattern in traditional Burmese Yun style.

Traditionally such vessels are used to present food to a monastery, but makes a wonderful, timeless, decorative piece.

Please note: small imperfections should be expected in an entirely handmade product such as this - minor flaws are often deliberately left during the object's creation as people often prefer a more aged look.

These are not often found in the UK.

Size: Approx. 67cm high. 26cm diameter.
