Khmer stone carving, King Jayavarman VII head, 38cm.

We have managed to acquire a small number of extremely fine Khmer stone carvings. These are based on original antique carvings and very closely resemble original antique pieces. They are beautifully carved in grey sandstone and look stunning.

King Jayavarman VII (1125-1218) was the most important king in Cambodian history, responsible for a massive building program of public works and monuments. This includes the magnificent Bayon and the city of Angkor Thom surrounding it.

To this day, this Buddhist king, is still a much revered figure amongst Cambodian citizens.

Dimensions:
Including base, Approx 38cm high x 15cm wide x 15cm deep.
Excluding the base the head is approx. 23cm high.

Weight approx 7.5kg unpacked.
