FAQ

Just email us at info@farangshop.co.uk and we will be glad to help. If you cannot complete your order online, you can just let us know what items you wish to buy and we can send you a Paypal invoice direct.

We genuinely travel throughout South East Asia, in particular Thailand, and source these products personally.

We buy from all kinds of people, visiting craft workshops, street markets, mountain villages and sources too numerous (and secret) to mention!

We often commission items to be made specially for us. Sometimes as one-off items and other times in bulk.

We have forged close ties over many years with our suppliers and are proud to have such a wonderful array of artisans we can call friends.

We are known for stocking many items which nobody else in the UK sells.

The majority are from Thailand, but we also have many products from neighbouring countries such as Burma, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.

In addition, we currently also have a few products from China and India.

...and if we see something on our travels, wherever we may be at the time, as long as it meets our high standards of craftsmanship, we will also stock items from elsewhere that we feel are of interest to those who appreciate such things.

We carefully inspect all our products (in Thailand and in the UK) and many products are made to order specially for for us. There may be minor imperfections in some of the craft items but these are not faults, just part of the hand-crafted process.

We've split the products into the categories you will find on the left of your screen.

Some will appear in multiple categories dependent on the nature of the product.

You can search for a product using the 'search' facility at the top of the screen.

You can enter a keyword which may be part of the product description.

Sizing is approximate. The actual size of each item does not vary by much, but if is an entirely hand-made product using traditional craft skills, sizes will vary slightly from item to item.

Appointments can be made via email to view at our warehouse, Farang, at C10 Inveralmond Grove, Perth PH1 3UG, Scotland. You can of course just drop in anytime we're open without making an appointment but we recommend you call in advance. We are generally open 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and weekends by appointment. We are also open some Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays around main holiday periods, so please call or email to check.

Call Farang on 07802 430932.

Here you can view probably the largest variety of Thai arts and crafts products available in the UK.

We calculate the total weight of the items in your shopping basket and the cost is based on that. For some items which are particularly bulky we also take into account the volume which can affect the postage costs.

For overseas orders, we will check the postage cost once packed and inform you if there is any variation to the quoted price. If the cost is higher than we have quoted and you are not satisfied, we will issue you with a full refund immediately.

For overseas orders over 4kg, then volumetric pricing can distort our automated postage calculation - please email us if you have any difficulties with the pricing.

No - just make sure your postcode is correct - the final UK delivery address we use is generated from the postcode by our courier company. Just select the nearest option from the choice of counties available and we will adjust it.

Yes. We have a dedicated antiques business called Lanna Antique. You can visit our website at lannaantique.com

We only stock a few genuine antiques at our Farang retail shop, and generally not our high-end antiques.

We stock a variety of asian art books, from rare and collectible volumes, to modern auction catalogues. Some of these are listed in the books and manuscripts section of this website. We mainly deal in asian art books and manuscripts in a specialist manner, so most will never be seen on our website, but feel free to contact us if you have any specific requirements and we will let you know if we have anything in stock. Our books are not stocked in our Farang retail shop. Please note: Books are mainly featured on lannaantique.com which is frequently updated with new stock.

Yes we do, but we have a very small stock at the moment - please see the Thai cushions section of the website.

No.

No.

No.

We could sell them and make an easy profit, but we don't sell them for the following reasons:
1. Stuffing these cushions is a specialist skill and is not remotely straightforward. You are very likely to end up with a lumpy, lop-sided cushion where the rolls do not retain their shape - these require special stitching in the right places too. Expert skills are required.
2.The kapok filling is very expensive to buy and if you purchase the quantity of kapok required it works out more expensive than buying a ready-to-use finished version anyway!
